Homecoming kicks off Monday with “Start of the Story” from 4-6 p.m. in the Quad and wraps up with the football home game against Houston Christian Oct. 18.

Bralyn Simmons, director of student activities and the Student Life Coalition, said the homecoming court would be announced after Thursday’s parade, which starts at 7 p.m. The pep rally follows at 8:45 p.m. in Navarre Stadium.

“Homecoming to me in three words is impactful, rowdy and exciting,” Simmons said. “With homecoming, students gain a sense of university pride and belonging and a sense of collaboration and inclusivity. Homecoming, to me, means being a part of tradition and history that is long before me.”

Simmons said a big part of the process for her is keeping students at the forefront in the planning process.

“How can we best serve the student body and give them a lasting experience?” she said.

Junior Pacifique Muramutsa, a student organizer on the Homecoming Committee, said the group is always working to improve the quality of homecoming events and is hoping for a big turnout.

“Homecoming provides a platform for student engagement and fun,” Muramutsa said.

Freshman Calista Netherland said she was most excited for the parade.

“As this is my first homecoming at McNeese, I’m genuinely excited to experience what it means to be part of something bigger than myself,” she said. “I can’t wait to see all the clubs, organizations, and sports teams come together and march proudly down the street, showing off the creativity and energy that makes McNeese so unique. It’s a moment that truly captures what Homecoming is all about — unity, tradition, and celebrating the heart of our community. I know that standing along the parade route, surrounded by people who all share that same McNeese pride, will be an unforgettable experience.”
