Five members of McNeese’s Rodeo Team are competing this weekend at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.

The McNeese State University Rodeo Team is hosting a Celebrity Fight Night Saturday at 7 p.m. in the McNeese Recreation Center. 

“We decided to make this a sister event to the successful boxing event each spring. Fight Night will have a cage instead of a ring and feature some professional fighters, as well as one of our alumni Caiden McDowell,” said McNeese rodeo coach Justin Browning. 

Featuring kickboxing and mixed martial arts, the matches include Josh Quayhagen vs. Melvin Guillard and Demarcus Leonard vs. Grant Navarre. 

All proceeds from the event will go to McNeese rodeo scholarships, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the American Cancer Society.
