McNeese State University’s Greek community raised more than $6,000 for charity during its annual Greek Week, a board game-themed series of events titled “The Game of Greek Life.”

With an average of 130 students at each event this year, the Greek community on campus showed up for a week of fellowship and competition where they raised more than $6,000 with over $500 coming from a car wash and approximately $1,000 from their giveback night, said Bradie Babin, director of events for Greek Week.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. claimed this year’s Hera Cup, ending a four-year winning streak by Alpha Delta Pi. Kappa Alpha Order took home the Zeus Cup, unseating Pi Kappa Alpha, the three-year defending champion. Individual honors for the Hercules and Athena awards were awarded to Riley Theriot and Abbie McDonald respectively.

In the daily events, Alpha Delta Pi won the Change Wars fundraiser and the overall bowling title for females, while men’s events had different winners most nights.

Babin said while there was a drop in participation compared to previous years, the experience is one she enjoyed.

“The past three years I have experienced was the true meaning of Greek Unity and school spirit,” she said. “This year we did see a drop in participation possibly due to some changes that were made regarding events. I hope next year the week is revamped and gets back to full participation and its full potential of an amazing week of fun events and unity among organizations.”
