Lake Charles, Louisiana – The McNeese women’s basketball team added five players before the May 4 recruiting deadline, continuing roster construction under new head coach Ashton Feldhaus. 

The Cowgirls signed Sarah Taub from North Florida, Zy Thompson from University of Tennessee at Martin, Josefine Enander and Anja Ekstrom from Morehead State, and Sumaiya Ibrahim from Midland College. 

With the additions, McNeese now has a total of eight players on the roster as the program continues to rebuild during the offseason. The group brings a mix of Division I and junior college experience as the team works to develop depth and establish its identity. 

Returning player Carley Hamilton said she has been encouraged by the direction of the program under Feldhaus. 

“It’s been really good.” Hamilton said. “I love what she’s doing with the team.” 

Head coach Ashton Feldhaus said the roster is being built with a specific style of play in mind as the program moves forward. 

“We want to shoot a ton of threes,” Feldhaus said. 

Not all players have arrived on campus yet, so the team has not begun full off-season workouts. Once the roster is complete, McNeese is expected to begin team activities and preparations ahead of the 2026-2027 season.
